School Programs
BrightRidge supports our schools and teachers! Each school year we conduct programs for approximately 2,000+ students. Topics vary and programs may be altered to better suit class needs. Program lengths vary from 20 minutes to one hour. School programs are only made available to those schools served by BrightRidge.

Basic Electricity
GRADE LEVEL: 6th
TIME: 30 – 45 minutes
OVERVIEW: Teaches the basics of electricity. Increases student familiarity with terms such as voltage, grounding, atoms, current, etc., as well as encourages them to further investigate the many wonderful aspects of electrical energy. -
Careers & Public Power
GRADE: 6th; may be altered to 3rd – 5th.
TIME: 30 – 35 minutes
OVERVIEW: Informs students of the advantages of a “public power” system, as well as reviews various career opportunities and requirements available at Local Power Companies (LPCs). -
Danger High Voltage
GRADE LEVEL: 1st - 5th
TIME: 30 – 45 minutes
OVERVIEW: Teaches students the difference between insulators and conductors, while reviewing basic electrical safety rules. Also, provides infomration about basic linemen equipment. Includes hands-on demonstration and samples, as well as class discussion.*This is our most popular program.

Generation to Distribution
GRADE: 6th; may be altered to 3rd – 5th.
TIME: 30 – 45 minutes
OVERVIEW: Provides students with a basic understanding of the generation and distribution of electrical energy. Basic electrical safety tips are reviewed. Individuals are also taught what to do in the event of a power outage. -
Save Energy
GRADE: 6th - Adult
TIME: 30 – 45 minutes
OVERVIEW: Provides instruction on how to read an electric meter, as well as how to calculate monthly energy bills. Students are also taught how to become “energy smart” and how to work with their families to set an “energy budget.” -
Rascal the BrightRidge Raccoon
GRADE: Pre-K to Kindergarten
TIME: 20 – 25 minutes
OVERVIEW: Instructs young children how to recognize and avoid dangerous situations involving electricity through a storybook.*This is our newest program.
